Dr Lisa-ann Gershwin is best-known for her research on jellyfish over the last 30 years. Concerns about a link between excess nutrients from salmon hatcheries and composting facilities stimulating bluegreen algae blooms that release Motor Neurone Disease neurotoxins in our drinking water led Lisa to raise the issue with Parliament and call for testing in 2020.

Dr Frank Nicklason has been a Staff Specialist Physician at the Royal Hobart Hospital for nearly 30 years. Most of Frank’s patients have some form of neurodegenerative disorder, but his particular clinical interest is Parkinson’s Disease. Frank believes that the major key to progress in the neuro-degenerative diseases is to accurately identify the environmental risk factors involved in their development- this is critically important at this time when there are no treatments which slow progress of these debilitating conditions.
